Basic Rules:

  • Teams should be ready on time to avoid delays
  • Each team will have a fixed number of overs
  • Equal participation should be encouraged for all players
  • Teams should organize their own bats  
  • Proper equipment (bat, ball, protective gear if required) should be used
  • The umpire’s decision is final at all times
  • Players, coaches, and spectators must respect the umpire without argument or dispute
  • Keep it clean and play fair
  • No abusive language or unsporting behavior will be tolerated
  • Parents and spectators are welcome to cheer and support from outside the ground
  • No one is allowed to enter the playing area during the match
  • Avoid distracting players while the game is in progress
  • The focus is on fun, learning, and teamwork

Cricket Tournament Rules

Under-11 & Under-16 Categories

๐ŸŸข Under-11 Tournament Rules

Team & Match Format

โ— Each team will consist of 6 players.

โ— A minimum of 5 players is required to start a match.

โ— Pitch Length: 12 yards.

โ— Matches will be played on a reduced-size ground suitable for Under-11 players.

โ— Each innings will consist of 6 overs per side.

โ— Each over will have 5 balls (Total: 30 balls per innings).

โ— Each bowler may bowl a maximum of 1 over.

โ— Batting will follow a rotation/pairs format.

โ— There is no “last batter bats alone” rule.

Bowling Rules

โ— Dangerous or excessively fast bowling is not allowed.

โ— Proper run-up bowling is not required.

โ— For the first 5 overs: โ—‹ Wides and no-balls will count as runs.

โ—‹ These deliveries will not be rebowled.

โ— The final over will follow normal cricket rules for wides and no-balls.

 

Delivery & Dead Ball Rules

โ— A delivery may be declared a dead ball if: โ—‹ The ball rolls excessively,

โ—‹ Stops unexpectedly, or

โ—‹ Does not reasonably reach the batter.

โ— In such cases, the umpire may allow the ball to be rebowled.

โ— If the ball pitches more than once but still reaches the batter in a fair and playable manner, it may still be considered a valid delivery.

โ— All such decisions will be made at the umpire’s discretion, and the umpire’s decision will be final.

 

Fielding & Scoring Rules

โ— Wicketkeeping gloves are optional.

โ— LBW will not be used.

โ— League matches may end in a tie. โ—‹ Winner may be decided based on wickets remaining.

โ—‹ Toss may be used in exceptional cases.

โ— Semi-finals and finals tied matches will be decided by a 1-over Super Over.

๐ŸŸก Additional Ground & Match Rules

Playing Area

โ— The ground will be divided into 2 playing areas to accommodate simultaneous matches.

โ— There will be no boundary behind the wicket/stumps area.

โ— Batters may continue running in that direction unless: โ—‹ The umpire calls the ball dead, or

โ—‹ The ball crosses the pitch area and is considered closed/dead.

Ball Completion Rules

A delivery will be considered complete once the ball reaches:

โ— The wicketkeeper, OR

โ— The bowler

The umpire will then call for the next ball.

Overthrows & Dead Ball Area

โ— Overthrows will not be counted.

โ— Once the ball reaches near the stumps/bowler area, it will be considered dead and ready for the next delivery.

โ— The umpire may assist in collecting and returning the ball to ensure smooth gameplay.

Umpire Authority

All umpire decisions will be final regarding:

โ— Match control

โ— Dead ball calls

โ— Safety decisions

โ— Wide/no-ball decisions

โ— Overall gameplay management

Adjacent Ground Interference

โ— If a player from the adjacent ground accidentally enters the playing area during an active ball, the delivery may be declared a dead ball and replayed, based on the umpire’s decision.

โ— Volunteers/helpers will be positioned around the grounds to: โ—‹ Guide players

โ—‹ Manage movement between playing areas

โ—‹ Ensure smooth gameplay

Match Readiness

โ— While one match is in progress, teams scheduled for the next match are requested to: โ—‹ Complete the toss in advance

โ—‹ Remain ready near the ground

โ— This will help ensure the next match starts immediately without delay.

โ— Volunteers/helpers will assist in coordinating smooth transitions between matches.

๐Ÿ”ต Under-16 Tournament Rules

Team & Tournament Format

โ— Each team will consist of 6 players.

โ— Pitch Length: 16 yards.

โ— Matches will be played on a larger ground.

โ— Tournament format will be Round Robin.

โ— The Top 2 teams will qualify for the Final.

โ— Each match duration will be approximately 45 minutes.

โ— Batting will follow a rotation/pairs format.

โ— There is no “last batter bats alone” rule.

Bowling Rules

โ— Dangerous or excessively fast bowling is not allowed.

โ— Proper run-up bowling is not required.

โ— For the first 5 overs: โ—‹ Wides and no-balls will count as runs.
